Blubau- Design & Architecture Blubau has been created in 2006 by designer Yotam Shabtai and architect Lidor Gilad, as a match point between industrial design and architecture. Blubau’s idea was to give a solution to the needs of the contemporary life that nowadays consists in being practical and comfortable, without forgetting a good design quality. Our design process is based on three main elements: system, shape, material. System- the product is always born from the idea of a specific system which gives a solution to a specific need. Shape- through the research of new forms and of the newborn system’s possibilities, a new formula is found. It combines the system with the product’s structure. Material- is the element that transforms the idea in reality. The material is chosen for its characteristics and this choice derives from the need formed by the combination between system and shape. These three elements encounter where the object`s esthetics is harmonious with its initial idea. Manufactured by BBB “Snake” is a modular sitting system made of six triangles, from which five are connected to one another by a special bearing mechanism. Each rotation of one or more triangles change the Snake’s shape and mode of use – there are over ten different forms of practical use, when every clear triangle face can be used in order to form these positions. Each triangle element can be separated in order to remove and wash the upholstery. Manufactured by BBB “Square2Square” is a square table that grows into a bigger one and maintains it’s geometry and proportion. The table grows from the closed position to the opened one in 33%. In this version, it grows from 8 to 12 seats. In order to keep the table parallel to its first position, while opening the table, we rotate only the dining surface, keeping the table legs in place and using them as a support for the opened table ”wings”. The central square changes its height position while the rotation, finding itself in the end on the exact same level as the dining surface.
